Design & Review
Inspex Solutions Ltd provides Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) design and independent technical review services for installations operating in safe areas and potentially explosive atmospheres. We support duty holders in meeting their obligations under DSEAR, delivering compliant EC&I designs and formal reviews aligned to BS 7671, BS EN 60079, IEC and ATEX requirements.
Our services cover power distribution, lighting, control panels, PLC/DCS architectures, instrumentation selection, hazardous area classification support, and protection concept development. For existing installations, we review inherited and legacy systems to identify non-compliances, design gaps, and operational risks, providing clear, prioritised recommendations that support safe operation, modification, and future inspection.
ATEX Inspection
Inspex Solutions delivers all grades of ATEX inspection (Visual, Close and Detailed) in accordance with BS EN 60079-17, supporting duty holders in demonstrating ongoing compliance for electrical and instrumentation equipment installed in hazardous areas. Inspections are carried out by competent engineers using bespoke digital ATEX inspection software, enabling accurate asset registers, photographic evidence, structured defect reporting, and long-term compliance tracking.
Our inspections assess equipment condition, installation integrity, suitability for zone classification, and continued validity of protection concepts, providing duty holders with clear evidence of compliance and defined remedial actions.
ATEX Remedial Works
We provide engineered ATEX remedial works to address non-compliances identified during inspection or design review. This includes correction of installation defects, replacement or upgrading of non-compliant equipment, improvements to earthing and bonding, gland and enclosure upgrades, cable system modifications, and protection concept enhancements.
All remedial works are designed and implemented in accordance with BS EN 60079-14 and relevant HSE guidance, ensuring defects are resolved safely, proportionately, and with minimal operational disruption. Where required, we support duty holders in demonstrating closure of actions and restoring compliance.
Maintenance
Inspex Solutions offers ongoing hazardous area maintenance and periodic ATEX inspection services to support continuous compliance throughout the asset lifecycle. Our maintenance strategies are aligned to BS EN 60079-17 and HSE expectations, ensuring inspection intervals, defect management, and documentation remain current as plant conditions change.
Services include periodic ATEX inspections, defect close-out tracking, asset register management, and support during plant modifications and extensions. This structured approach helps duty holders maintain compliance, manage risk, and demonstrate effective control of explosive atmosphere hazards over time.
