Qualifications & Competence.

At Inspex Solutions Ltd, competence is central to how we deliver safe, compliant, and reliable EC&I services. Our engineers are qualified, trained, and experienced to work in both safe areas and potentially explosive atmospheres, supporting duty holders in meeting their legal obligations under BS7671, DSEAR and the BS EN 60079 series. We maintain clear role-based competency requirements to ensure that design decisions, inspections, and site activities are carried out by appropriately qualified personnel, providing confidence in compliance, safety, and technical integrity.

Design Engineers

  • HNC / HND (or higher) in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering

​

  • CompEx Ex12 – Design of electrical and instrumentation systems for hazardous areas

​​

  • Strong working knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR, and the BS EN 60079 series

​

  • Electrical system design to BS 7671 (LV power, lighting, and control systems)

​

  • Control system design experience (PLC, DCS, SCADA architectures)

​

  • Instrument specification and integration for safe and potentially explosive atmospheres

​

  • Competence in producing protection concepts, hazardous area classifications, and compliant design documentation

​

  • Proficiency in electrical design and CAD software

​​

  • Health & safety awareness, with NEBOSH or equivalent desirable

Field Engineers

  • Time-served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent industry training

​​

  • CompEx Ex01–Ex04 – Electrical and instrumentation work in hazardous areas

​

  • City & Guilds 2394 / 2395 (or legacy 2391) – Inspection and testing

​​

  • SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme (CITB Site Safety Plus)  SMSTS Cert

​​

  • CCNSG Safety Passport (or equivalent recognised health & safety passport)

​​

  • Competence in all grades of ATEX inspection (Visual, Close, and Detailed)

  • ​

  • Practical experience identifying ATEX non-compliances and installation defects

​​

  • Ability to carry out corrective works and support engineered rectification solutions

​​

  • Experience working to BS EN 60079-17 and BS 7671 requirements

​

  • Confident use of digital ATEX inspection and reporting tools

​​

  • Strong site safety awareness, including permit-to-work, COMAH, and controlled environments
